|Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva presents credentials|

During the official ceremony, Ambassador Minelik underlined the remarkable achievements scored in socio-economic development and democratization process in Ethiopia over the last two decades, and briefed the Director-General about Ethiopia’s newly launched Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP). He said that the Permanent Mission will endeavor to make meaningful contribution to the achievement of the GTP through its work with the United Nations Agencies and other organizations in Switzerland. He expressed the Government’s commitment to work with all development partners including the United Nations and its specialized agencies to realize the country’s priorities. The Director-General on his part discussed the organization’s transformation and talked about some of the key issues prioritized by the United Nations including the Millennium Development Goals on Disarmanent. He expressed the readiness of his office to work with the of Ethiopia and the Permanent Mission in facilitating the latter’s engagement in the Organization.
The Permanent Mission of Ethiopia to the United Nations Office in Geneva represents Ethiopia in major United Nations organizations and specialized agencies including the Human Rights Council, World Trade Organization, International Labor Organization, High Commissioner for Refugees, World Health Organization and numerous other intergovernmental organizations, programmes, funds, offices and research institutes as well as related organizations which are headquartered in Geneva.
